Still, whenever I see people jogging, I feel like telling them : Stop it you're killing yourself ! Most of time I just don't because it's just too far away from normal for people to understand - and I am enough of a weirdo like that !
I always had the conviction that jogging was wrong but never really knew why. Now I know. A while ago I received this newsletter from Lucas at YogaBody Naturals. Please read it and then I'll tell you a bit more about it :
Dear Fabrice,There's a lot in this and I won't be commenting more. His explanation stands for itself.
There are 3 stages to accepting a new concept as
truth.
Step 1: You completely reject the new idea
Step 2: You vehemently oppose the idea (often vocally)
Step 3: You embrace the new idea with your heart
and soul forever
Sound ridiculous? It was certainly true for me when
I heard that a medical doctor wrote a book all about
why you should AVOID cardiovascular workouts.
AVOID cardio? Why on earth??
To me, that's sounded as crazy as saying broccoli is
poison.
Both my parents are long-distance runners, and I don't
remember a time when I didn't believe that you should
take your heart rate ABOVE 120 beats per minute for
at least 20 minutes each workout to prevent heart
attacks.
The longer the better, the stronger the heart.
So when I first heard "cardio kills," I said, "bull!"
And when I heard it again (more emails from friends),
I started getting mad. I sent some nasty emails and
starting talking trash about this doctor I knew nothing
about!
And when the emails kept coming and kept coming, I
finally sat down and read the book--and within an hour
or so, I accepted this new idea as fact.
Take a seat...
You see, your heart is a muscle, like your bicep. And if
you want to build big, strong biceps, you don't do 10,000
reps with a soup can. Instead, you select a weight that
challenges you and lift it 7-10 times. Then you take a
break before doing your next rep. Over time, you add
more weight to continue challenging - and growing -
the muscle.
The same is true with your heart. Excessive cardio just
fries your nerves and fatigues your system. It's not the
REAL way to strengthen your heart.
The REAL way is brief moments of exertion, followed
by recovery ... just like you would do to build your
biceps. This would include things like doing sprints
on the beach. Like pedaling a bicycle as hard and
fast as you can for 1-2 minutes. And like pushing
up into full wheel after a nice, long practice.
(as a side note, I monitored a guy's heart in full
wheel once in class, and he hit 160 for a solid
2 minutes)
So what I'm saying is you've got read this book:

My big fear here is that people will use this as
just another excuse to sit on the couch and watch
the tube, when really it should be a sharp kick in
the butt to take it up a notch and change the way
you move.
Hey, even my dad is doing run/walk marathons
now.
Amazing when your world view flips on its head
overnight. Read the book!
Stay bendy,
Lucas

Since I registered to this newsletter, almost all the messages have been truly inspirational and all those good advices make me fell less lonely or bewildered in my yoga practice. I always needed a guru. I think everybody does.
Anyway, if you're into yoga - and speak english - I strongly advise you to visit the website and register for the newsletter. Obviously he has to push his products and books and all that but he doesn't overdo it and you still get tons of good advice.
Thanks Lucas !
